Lavender Green

Experience the transformative power of art, design, and entrepreneurship in a coworking space dedicated to creating a vibrant community that supports at-risk youth.

This project highlights the urgent need for new design solutions in the rapidly evolving modern workplace, particularly through the creation of a coworking space in Ottawa. With approximately 30% of the city's population identifying as immigrants, there are significant challenges related to diversity and the integration of various cultural perspectives. The project addresses the pressing issue of youth homelessness, emphasizing that young people often lack the life skills and knowledge that come later in life while navigating the complexities of adolescence. Marginalized youth face even greater obstacles, including racism, transphobia, and sexism. These intertwined problems underscore the necessity for a dedicated space that considers these critical social issues.

Lavender Green coworking addresses the needs of the Ottawa's diverse population. It focuses on the challenges faced by marginalized youth, including those experiencing homelessness. Inspired by a "public little library," the space serves as a safe haven for connection, reflection, and growth. Key features includes flexible workstations, quiet areas for contemplation, and mentorship zones, fostering collaboration and resource-sharing. The environment promotes wellness, individuality, and cultural diversity, using natural light and calming design elements to inspire hope and resilience. This coworking space is a supportive community hub that empowers youth, nurtures entrepreneurial spirit, and fosters an interconnected network where diverse experiences are valued and shared.
